John Robert Anderson (October 20, 1922 – August 7, 1992) was a distinguished character actor renowned for his commanding presence and striking silver hair. With a career spanning several decades, Anderson left an indelible mark on both film and television, appearing in a vast array of productions. Anderson frequently graced the screen in Westerns and science-fiction series, often depicting honorable and dignified characters. One of his more notable departures from this typecasting came with his portrayal of a menacing interrogator in the 1963 episode "Nightmare" of *The Outer Limits*. He was deeply appreciative of the work of Rod Serling and took pride in his appearances in four episodes of *The Twilight Zone* (1959). His standout performance as the tuxedo-clad angel Gabriel in "A Passage for Trumpet" remains particularly memorable, as he provided a poignant support to Jack Klugman, reminiscent of Henry Travers's role in *It's a Wonderful Life* (1946).
