Thomas Mitchell (July 11, 1892 – December 17, 1962) was a multifaceted American actor, playwright, and screenwriter, known for his remarkable contributions to film and theater. He garnered widespread acclaim for his memorable performances, most notably as Gerald O'Hara, the father of Scarlett O'Hara, in the epic film *Gone with the Wind*. Mitchell's versatility shone through in his role as the inebriated Doc Boone in John Ford's classic *Stagecoach*, and he also charmed audiences as Uncle Billy in the beloved holiday film *It's a Wonderful Life*.
