Biography
Aasif Hakim Mandviwala, widely known as Aasif Mandvi, was born on March 5, 1966, and is a British-American actor, comedian, and author. He made his television debut in a small role as a doorman in the "Line of Fire" episode of Miami Vice. In 2006, Mandvi joined The Daily Show as a contributing correspondent, earning a promotion to regular status shortly thereafter on March 12, 2007. His incisive interview with Don Yelton in 2013 led to a significant political resignation, highlighting his impact on the show.
Mandvi's notable roles include a recurring character on the FOX romantic comedy Us & Them in 2013, and he portrayed Rafiq Massoud in HBO's The Brink, where he also worked as a writer and co-producer. He starred in the web series Halal in the Family, showcasing his writing talents, and served as a celebrity correspondent for Years of Living Dangerously, a documentary on climate change.
From 2017, Mandvi appeared in Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events as Montgomery "Uncle Monty" Montgomery, further solidifying his diverse portfolio. In 2019, he took on the role of Ben Shakir in CBS's supernatural drama Evil. His extensive television career includes roles in shows like Oz, Blue Bloods, and Younger.
