Guy Williams
Biography
Guy Williams, a prominent figure in the New Zealand comedy scene, began his career performing stand-up comedy before achieving significant recognition. His breakthrough moment came when he triumphed in the Dai’s Protégé Project competition, which was part of Jono’s New Show. This victory led him to open for renowned comedian Dai Henwood during the prestigious NZ International Comedy Festival. The following year, he further solidified his presence in the industry by collaborating with Jono Pryor on his television program, The Jono Project.
In 2012, Williams was honored with the Billy T James comedy award, a testament to his talent and contributions to the comedic landscape. His journey continued as he joined The Edge radio station in 2014, where he engaged audiences with his humor. Over the years, he has been involved in various successful projects, including a regular slot on the comedic duo Jono and Ben, and lending his voice to the New Zealand version of Come Dine With Me. In 2019, he took on the role of host for the comedy news show New Zealand Today, showcasing his unique perspective on current events.
