Jonathan Pryce
Biography
Jonathan Pryce, CBE, born on June 1, 1947, is a distinguished Welsh actor and singer known for his extensive work in both stage and film. He received an Academy Award nomination for his role in the acclaimed 2019 movie "The Two Popes."
Pryce's journey began after he attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where he met his partner, actress Kate Fahy, in 1974. He made his mark in the 1970s as a stage performer, gaining recognition for his standout portrayal of Hamlet at the Royal Court Theatre. His big break in film came with Terry Gilliam's 1985 classic "Brazil." Celebrated for his remarkable range, Pryce has appeared in major films like "Evita," "Tomorrow Never Dies," and "Pirates of the Caribbean," alongside independent works such as "Glengarry Glen Ross." His stage career is equally impressive, earning him two Tony Awards: one for "Comedians" in 1977 and another for his performance in "Miss Saigon" in 1991.
