Biography

Nicholas John Tate, born on June 18, 1942, is a distinguished Australian actor renowned for his portrayal of Alan Carter, an Eagle pilot, in the iconic 1970s sci-fi series Space: 1999. Nick hails from a family deeply rooted in the performing arts; his father, John Tate, and mother, Neva Carr Glyn, were both actors, and his grandparents were Vaudeville performers from Great Britain.

Tate's career took off with the Australian series My Brother Jack, followed by a significant role in the musical The Canterbury Tales, where he showcased his talent as "Nicholas the Gallant" for 18 months. He later starred in the series Dynasty, sharing the screen with his father in a memorable father-son dynamic. His work in Space: 1999 led to a breakthrough in film, earning accolades for his performance in The Devil's Playground.

Throughout his career, Tate has appeared in numerous acclaimed films such as The Year My Voice Broke, Cry Freedom, and Hook, as well as guest roles in popular TV shows including The X-Files, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Farscape. His voiceover skills have graced theatrical trailers for major films like Jurassic Park and Mission: Impossible, and he was featured in the humorous short film 5 Men and a Limo alongside other famous voice artists.

In 2006, he returned to musical theater, taking on the role of Captain E.J. Smith in the Australian premiere of Titanic. Tate splits his time between Australia and Los Angeles, continuing to leave his mark on the entertainment industry.
