Biography

Danny Lebern Glover, born on July 22, 1946, is a multifaceted American actor, director, and activist renowned for his impactful contributions to film and theater. He gained immense popularity for his role as Sergeant Roger Murtaugh in the iconic Lethal Weapon series, showcasing his charisma and talent.

Throughout his career, Glover has portrayed a diverse range of characters in film, television, and on stage. He is particularly remembered for his poignant performance as Celie’s husband, Mister, in the acclaimed adaptation of Alice Walker's novel, The Color Purple, and as Lieutenant James McFee in the gripping thriller, Witness. His other notable films include To Sleep with Anger, Predator 2, Angels in the Outfield, and Operation Dumbo Drop, for which he earned the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead.

Glover has also delivered powerful supporting performances in films such as Silverado, A Rage in Harlem, Dreamgirls, and Jumanji: The Next Level. He first received top billing in Predator 2, further solidifying his status in Hollywood. Additionally, he has made memorable cameos, including a spot in Michael Jackson's 1987 video "Liberian Girl."

In 1994, Glover ventured into directing with the short film Override for Showtime. That same year, he co-founded the Robey Theatre Company with Ben Guillory in Los Angeles, dedicated to promoting works by and about Black artists, emphasizing his commitment to representation in the arts.
