Zachary Israel "Zach" Braff, born on April 6, 1975, is a multifaceted American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter. He gained widespread recognition in 2001 for his portrayal of Dr. John Dorian on the acclaimed television series Scrubs, a role that earned him an Emmy nomination. Braff was an integral part of Scrubs for eight seasons, ultimately departing the show in December 2009, although he continued to contribute as an executive producer.

In 2004, Braff made a significant mark in the film industry with his directorial debut, Garden State, a poignant coming-of-age tale filmed in his native New Jersey. With a modest budget of $2.5 million, the movie achieved remarkable success, grossing over $35 million and receiving positive reviews, which solidified Braff's reputation as a filmmaker. He not only directed and starred in the film but also wrote its soundtrack, winning a Grammy Award for Best Soundtrack Album in 2005.
