Marjo
Biography
Marjolène Morin, better known as Marjo, was born on August 2, 1953, in Montreal, Quebec. Before carving a niche in music, she gained experience as a model and editor for the fashion magazine Madame, and managed the renowned jazz club L'Air du temps. Her early artistic endeavors included performances in two musicals directed by François Guy. In 1979, she became a member of the rock band Corbeau, founded by Pierre Harel, marking the beginning of her musical career.
After Corbeau's split, Marjo co-wrote and recorded "Touch Me," which served as the theme for the film *A Woman in Transit* (La Femme de l'hôtel), winning a Genie Award for Best Original Song in 1985. Her debut album, *Celle qui va*, released in 1986, achieved remarkable success, selling over 250,000 copies and earning double platinum status. The album garnered three Prix Félix, and her electrifying live performances drew comparisons to James Bay.
Following her debut, Marjo released *Tant qu'il y aura des enfants* in 1990, which featured hit singles like "À bout de ciel" and "Je sais, je sais," earning her four more Prix Félix. In 1995, she released *Bohémienne*, which received platinum certification and was nominated for a Juno Award.
Marjo's discography continued with *Bootleg Blues* (1988), *Sans retour* (2001), and *Turquoise* (2005). In 2009 and 2010, she revisited her classics with two volumes of *Marjo et ses hommes*, collaborating with various male artists. While she has not released new material since then, Marjo remains active in live performances, most recently in 2017. She also ventured into acting in 2016 with a role in Sophie Dupuis's film *Family First* (Chien de
