Diane Keaton
Biography
Diane Hall Keaton, born on January 5, 1946, is a celebrated American actress renowned for her unique personality and distinctive fashion sense. Over the course of her impressive career, which spans more than sixty years, Keaton has garnered numerous prestigious awards, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA, two Golden Globes, and the AFI Life Achievement Award.
Her artistic journey commenced on the stage, where she starred in the original Broadway production of the musical Hair in 1968. The following year, she earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her role in Woody Allen's comedic work, Play It Again, Sam. Keaton's film career began with a minor part in Lovers and Other Strangers (1970), but she gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Kay Adams-Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola's iconic film, The Godfather (1972), a character she reprised in its sequels.
Much of her most significant work came from collaborations with Woody Allen, starting with the film adaptation of Play It Again, Sam. Her comedic talent shone in Sleeper (1973) and Love and Death (1975), but it was her iconic performance in Annie Hall (1977) that won her the Academy Award for Best Actress. To avoid being confined to that role, Keaton took on diverse dramatic performances, earning additional Academy Award nominations for her roles in Reds (1981), Marvin's Room (1996), and Something's Gotta Give (2003). Her diverse filmography also includes beloved titles such as Manhattan (1979), Baby Boom (1987), and Finding Dory (2016).
