George Melville Cooper, born on October 15, 1896, and passing away on March 13, 1973, was a prominent British actor who made his mark on stage, film, and television. He is perhaps most recognized for his portrayal of the bumbling Sheriff of Nottingham in the classic film The Adventures of Robin Hood alongside Errol Flynn, and for his role as Mr. Collins in the beloved adaptation of Pride and Prejudice featuring Greer Garson.
