Biography

Tony Todd (December 4, 1954 – November 6, 2024) was a celebrated American actor renowned for his powerful voice and commanding presence. Hailing from Washington, D.C. and raised in Hartford, Connecticut, Todd honed his craft in theater at the University of Connecticut and the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, laying the groundwork for a diverse career in both stage and screen performances.

His cinematic journey began in the mid-1980s with roles in notable films such as "Platoon" (1986) and "Sleepwalk" (1986). Todd gained significant recognition for his performance as Ben in the 1990 remake of "Night of the Living Dead," but it was his portrayal of the titular character in the horror classic "Candyman" (1992) that solidified his status as an iconic figure in the genre. He continued to captivate audiences with roles in "The Crow" (1994), "The Rock" (1996), and "Wishmaster" (1997), while also becoming a familiar face in the "Final Destination" franchise (2000–2025), where he played the enigmatic William Bludworth.
