Sir John Vincent Hurt (January 22, 1940 – January 25, 2017) was a distinguished English actor whose remarkable career spanned over fifty years. He first gained widespread attention for his portrayal of Richard Rich in the acclaimed film *A Man for All Seasons* (1966) and garnered BAFTA nominations for his powerful performances as Timothy Evans in *10 Rillington Place* (1971) and Quentin Crisp in the television film *The Naked Civil Servant* (1975), ultimately winning his first BAFTA for the latter.
