Anthony Douglas Gillon Dawson (18 October 1916 – 8 January 1992) was a prominent Scottish actor recognized for his notable supporting performances as antagonists in several films. Among his most memorable roles are those in Alfred Hitchcock's Dial M for Murder (1954) and Midnight Lace (1960). Dawson is also celebrated for portraying Professor Dent in the inaugural James Bond film, Dr. No (1962). Additionally, he took on the iconic character of Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the 007 franchise, appearing in both From Russia with Love (1963) and Thunderball (1965). Throughout his career, Dawson's talent for embodying complex villains made a lasting impact on the film industry, solidifying his status as a skilled character actor.
