Biography
Adam Williams, originally named Adam William Berg, was born on November 26, 1922, and passed away on December 4, 2006. He was a prominent American actor known for his compelling portrayals of antagonistic characters in film and television, particularly during the 1950s. Before embarking on his acting career, Williams served valiantly as a United States Navy pilot during World War II, earning the distinguished Navy Cross for his bravery.
Williams made his cinematic debut in 1952 as a Los Angeles woman killer in "Without Warning!" The following year, he took on the role of Larry, a car bomber, in the classic film "The Big Heat." His versatility was evident in his performance as the psychiatrist in "Fear Strikes Out" (1957) and as Valerian in the Alfred Hitchcock classic "North by Northwest" (1959).
In addition to his film work, Williams featured prominently in numerous television series throughout the 1950s and 1960s. He appeared in the syndicated series "Sheriff of Cochise" and played a private detective in the iconic "Perry Mason" episode "The Case of the Runaway Corpse." Notably, he was a sailor in the acclaimed "Twilight Zone" episode "The Hitch-Hiker," which is often hailed as one of the series' finest. His extensive television credits also include roles in "The Rifleman," "Bonanza," and the 1976 TV movie "Helter Skelter." Adam Williams remains remembered for his significant contributions to the entertainment industry.
