Biography
Christopher Jacob Abbott is an actor from the United States, widely recognized for his roles in independent cinema. He made his debut in feature films with the critically acclaimed "Martha Marcy May Marlene" in 2011, the same year he also marked his Broadway entrance in the revival of "The House of Blue Leaves." Abbott's performance in the drama "James White" (2015) earned him a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead.
In addition to his earlier work, he took on the role of astronaut David Scott in the 2018 biographical drama "First Man" and contributed to several notable films, including "A Most Violent Year" (2014), "It Comes at Night" (2017), "Possessor" (2020), "Black Bear" (2020), and "Poor Things" (2023). Abbott's portrayal of Capt. Yossarian in the Hulu miniseries "Catch-22" (2019) garnered him a nomination for a Golden Globe Award. His television credits also include a significant role in the HBO series "Girls" (2012–2016), the USA Network's "The Sinner" (2017), and the Apple TV+ series "The Crowded Room" (2023).
