Freddie Dalton "Fred" Thompson (August 19, 1942 - November 1, 2015) was a multifaceted American personality known for his roles as a politician, actor, attorney, lobbyist, columnist, and radio host. Thompson served as a Republican U.S. Senator representing Tennessee from 1994 to 2003. His political career included significant appointments, such as chairing the International Security Advisory Board at the U.S. Department of State and participating as a member of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission. Additionally, he was affiliated with the Council on Foreign Relations and served as a Visiting Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, focusing on national security and intelligence issues.
