Biography
Jane Seymour Fonda, born on December 21, 1937, is a renowned American actress, activist, and former fashion model. She has garnered numerous prestigious awards throughout her career, including two Academy Awards, two BAFTAs, seven Golden Globes, a Primetime Emmy, the AFI Life Achievement Award, the Golden Lion Honorary Award, the Honorary Palme d'Or, and the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
Fonda was born to socialite Frances Ford Seymour and actor Henry Fonda. She launched her acting career in 1960 with the Broadway production of "There Was a Little Girl," earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress. That same year, she made her film debut in the romantic comedy "Tall Story." Fonda gained fame in the 1960s with films like "Period of Adjustment" (1962), "Sunday in New York" (1963), "Cat Ballou" (1965), "Barefoot in the Park" (1967), and "Barbarella" (1968). She won her first Academy Award for Best Actress for "Klute" (1971) and again for "Coming Home" (1978).
In addition to acting, Fonda revolutionized home fitness with her 1982 video, "Jane Fonda's Workout," which became the best-selling VHS of the 20th century. After a brief retirement, she made a successful return to film with "Monster-in-Law" (2005). In recent years, she starred in movies like "The Butler" (2013) and the hit Netflix series "Grace and Frankie," which premiered in 2015 and received multiple nominations for her performance. Fonda's enduring legacy is marked by her impactful contributions to both film and social causes.
