Laurence Fishburne
Biography
Laurence John Fishburne III, born on July 30, 1961, is a distinguished American actor celebrated for his powerful performances in both theater and film. A recipient of three Emmy Awards and a Tony Award, Fishburne is often cast in commanding and authoritative roles. He is perhaps most recognized for his iconic portrayal of Morpheus in The Matrix trilogy (1999–2003) and Jason "Furious" Styles in Boyz n the Hood (1991). His filmography includes notable performances as Tyrone "Mr. Clean" Miller in Apocalypse Now (1979) and "The Bowery King" in the John Wick series (2017-present).
Fishburne earned an Academy Award nomination for his role as Ike Turner in What's Love Got to Do with It (1993) and won a Tony for Best Featured Actor in Two Trains Running (1992). He made history as the first African American to play Othello in a film adaptation of Shakespeare's work.
