Biography
Alice Pearce (October 16, 1917 - March 3, 1966) was a talented American actress known for her exceptional comedic timing and memorable performances. She made her way to Hollywood when the legendary Gene Kelly invited her to reprise her Broadway role in the film adaptation of *On the Town* in 1949. Following her film debut, Pearce garnered acclaim for her various supporting roles in a number of films, showcasing her knack for comedy.
However, she is perhaps best remembered for her iconic portrayal of Gladys Kravitz, the ever-curious neighbor in the beloved television sitcom *Bewitched*, which premiered in 1964. Pearce's performance resonated with audiences, and she earned a posthumous Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series after the show’s second season, solidifying her legacy in television history.
Tragically, Alice Pearce's life was cut short when she succumbed to ovarian cancer in 1966. Despite her passing, her contributions to film and television continue to be celebrated by fans and fellow artists alike, ensuring that her spirit and talent remain alive in the hearts of many.
