Biography

Andrew Simpson, a talented actor hailing from Derry, Northern Ireland, received his foundational training at the Foyle School of Speech and Drama under the guidance of Sandra Biddle. Born to Marion and Paddy, Andrew grew up in a family immersed in the arts; his siblings—Charlotte, Sarah, and younger brother Patrick—also honed their skills at Biddle’s esteemed drama school.

His career began to take shape when he caught the eye of agent Patrick Duncan, who introduced him to acclaimed director Aisling Walsh. This led to his compelling role as Gerard Peters in the powerful film *Song for a Raggy Boy* (2003), a gripping tale set in an Irish reform school, alongside notable actors Aidan Quinn and Iain Glen.

Andrew's stage presence shone in performances at the Millennium Forum in Derry, particularly in *Packy's Wake*, and he enhanced his craft through Centre Stage Drama holidays at Parkanaur. His versatility is further evidenced by his work in commercials for the PSNI and Invest NI.

In 2006, he starred in the critically acclaimed film *Notes on a Scandal*, directed by Richard Eyre and featuring illustrious talents like Cate Blanchett, Judi Dench, and Bill Nighy. In this adaptation of Zoe Heller's novel, Andrew portrayed Steven Connolly, an Irish immigrant navigating the complexities of school life with his renowned co-stars.
