Biography

Marilyn Pauline Novak, professionally recognized as Kim Novak, was born on February 13, 1933. She is a distinguished American actress, renowned for her significant contributions to film and television, although she is now retired.

Novak embarked on her acting journey in 1954 after joining Columbia Pictures, where she quickly rose to fame. Among her early successes, the film Picnic (1955) garnered critical acclaim, establishing her as a leading talent in Hollywood. She continued to shine in notable films such as The Man with the Golden Arm (1955) and Pal Joey (1957). However, her most iconic role came in Alfred Hitchcock's suspense masterpiece, Vertigo (1958), where she impressively portrayed both Judy Barton and Madeleine Elster. Novak's captivating performances earned her a place among the top stars of her time, sharing the screen with legendary actors like James Stewart, Frank Sinatra, and Kirk Douglas.

Despite her early success, Novak’s career faced a downturn in the 1960s, leading to her withdrawal from the film industry in 1966 after a series of uninspired projects. She made a brief return with The Mirror Crack'd (1980) and appeared in the television series Falcon Crest (1986-87). Following a challenging experience while filming Liebestraum (1991), Novak decided to retire permanently from acting, expressing no interest in making a comeback.
