Arthur Malet
Biography
Arthur Malet, born on September 24, 1927, in Lee-on-Solent, Hampshire, England, is a distinguished English actor whose career spans several decades. After moving to the United States in the 1950s, Malet quickly established himself in the theater scene, earning two Drama Desk Awards in 1957 for his outstanding performances.
Malet gained significant recognition in the 1960s, often portraying characters much older than his actual age. One of his most notable roles was as Mr. Dawes, Jr. in the beloved Disney classic Mary Poppins. His talent for bringing complex characters to life led to memorable performances in both film and television.
In addition to his iconic role in Mary Poppins, Malet appeared in a 1972 episode of the detective series Columbo, titled "Dagger of the Mind," where he played Joe Fenwick. He continued to impress audiences with his work in Mel Brooks' cult classic Young Frankenstein in 1974, and later as Tootles in the 1991 film Hook, showcasing his versatility across genres.
Malet's television credits also include appearances in The Alfred Hitchcock Hour and The McGregor Affair, which aired on November 23, 1964. Throughout his career, Arthur Malet has left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry with his remarkable performances and enduring legacy.
