Biography
John Winston Howard OM AC SSI is a distinguished Australian politician who held the position of the 25th Prime Minister of Australia from 1996 until 2007. As the leader of the Liberal Party of Australia, Howard played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s policies during his tenure. Before ascending to the premiership, he served as the Treasurer of Australia from 1977 to 1983 under Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, where he was instrumental in implementing significant economic reforms.
During his time as Prime Minister, Howard was known for his economic management and a focus on national security. His government oversaw a period of sustained economic growth, and he was a key figure in the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in 2000.
