Daniel Duval (November 28, 1944 – October 10, 2013) was a prominent French actor, director, and writer, whose contributions to the film industry spanned several decades. With a prolific career that included appearances in more than 70 television and film projects, Duval became a well-recognized figure in French cinema. His talents extended beyond acting; he also showcased his skills as a filmmaker. In 1977, he earned the Silver Prize at the 10th Moscow International Film Festival for his compelling drama, Shadow of the Castles, which he both wrote and directed.

In addition to his film achievements, Duval was known for his role in the acclaimed French television drama Engrenages, where he made a notable impact during its second and third seasons in 2008 and 2010, respectively. His personal life included a brief marriage to actress Anna Karina from 1978 to 1981.
