Alec Guinness
Biography
Sir Alec Guinness, CH, CBE (April 2, 1914 – August 5, 2000) was a distinguished English actor renowned for his versatility and depth. He gained prominence through his performances in various Ealing Comedies, notably in Kind Hearts and Coronets, where he showcased his talent by portraying eight distinct characters. His remarkable career reached a pinnacle when he received an Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Colonel Nicholson in The Bridge on the River Kwai. Guinness is perhaps best recognized for his iconic role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the original Star Wars trilogy. Additionally, he captivated audiences with his performances as Prince Feisal in Lawrence of Arabia and George Smiley in the acclaimed television adaptation of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
