James L. Edwards
Biography
James L. Edwards embarked on his acting journey at the tender age of 12 when he responded to a local newspaper ad seeking zombie extras for the low-budget horror film "The Dead Next Door." Initially aspiring to be a special effects makeup artist, he discovered that while his artistic skills weren’t quite up to par, his passion for acting and various production roles blossomed. Edwards secured a position as a production assistant and appeared in multiple roles, quickly becoming a reliable actor and integral team member at Tempe Entertainment.
During his time with Tempe, Edwards wrote reviews for their Alternative Cinema magazine and contributed freelance pieces for Blackest Heart. He co-wrote the screenplay for Pete Jacelone’s "Psycho Sisters," a project he landed after penning a critical review of Jacelone's earlier work. One of his standout performances came as a serial killer in Matthew Jason Walsh's horror film "Bloodletting."
Following the dissolution of Tempe, Edwards took a break to marry and start a family, leading a quieter life until filmmaker T. Michael Conway approached him. Edwards eagerly returned to the screen as both producer and actor on the gritty cop drama "PiG," soon after joining the project "June 9."
He continued his creative momentum with several independent features like "The Spook Show," "Poison Sweethearts," "Wrestlemassacre," and "Killer Campout," which he also co-wrote. In February 2020, Edwards made his directorial debut with the romantic horror drama "HER NAME WAS CHRISTA," featuring Shianne Daye and Drew Fortier. He followed this with the horror anthology "BRIMSTONE INCORPORATED" in 2021.
