Kim Althea Gordon, born on April 28, 1953, is a multifaceted American artist renowned for her significant contributions to music, visual arts, and film. As a pivotal figure in the alternative rock scene, she is best recognized as the lead vocalist, bassist, and guitarist of the influential band Sonic Youth, which shaped the landscape of indie rock from the 1980s onwards. In addition to her work with Sonic Youth, she is a co-founder of the band Free Kitten, alongside Julia Cafritz, who is known for her role in Pussy Galore.
