Charles Robert Redford Jr. (August 18, 1936 – September 16, 2025) was a prominent American actor, director, and activist renowned for his significant contributions to the film industry. He garnered multiple accolades throughout his career, including an Academy Award for Best Director for his 1980 film, Ordinary People, and an honorary Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2002. Redford was also instrumental in establishing the Sundance Film Festival, which has become a vital platform for independent filmmakers.
