Biography
Jane Russell, born on June 21, 1921, in the Midwest, became one of Hollywood's most iconic sex symbols during the 1940s and 1950s. She ventured to California, where her film debut came in 1943 with the controversial movie "The Outlaw." After establishing herself in the film industry, Russell explored her musical talents in 1947 before returning to the silver screen. Throughout the 1950s, she starred in numerous successful films, further solidifying her status as a leading actress, and continued to balance her film career with music in the 1960s. Over her lifetime, Russell appeared in more than 20 films.
In her personal life, Russell was married three times and adopted three children. She was also a passionate advocate for adoption, founding the World Adoption International Fund in 1955 to help children in need. Her contributions to film and her philanthropic work earned her several honors, including having her handprints and footprints preserved at Grauman's Chinese Theatre and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
