Biography

Mark Lester was born in London, England, where he began his journey in the performing arts by attending stage school as a young child. At just six years old, he made his cinematic debut in the film *The Counterfeit Constable* (1964). His early television appearances quickly made him a familiar face in the UK entertainment scene. However, it was his moving performance as a stuttering boy in *Our Mother's House* (1967) that catapulted him to international recognition.

In 1968, Lester was cast as the lead in the iconic musical *Oliver!*, after a rigorous audition process that saw 250 young actors vying for the role. This performance solidified his status as a talented child actor, leading to a series of diverse roles across television, film, and theatre.
