Otis Burt "Sonny" Shroyer Jr. (born August 28, 1935) is a retired American actor renowned for his memorable contributions to both television and film. He gained widespread recognition for portraying Deputy Sheriff Enos Strate in the beloved series The Dukes of Hazzard. His character's popularity led to the creation of a spin-off series, Enos, which focused on his adventures following the original show's success.

Born in Valdosta, Georgia, Shroyer grew up in a community rich in Southern traditions. His early life involved working in local tobacco warehouses and assisting his father in their family-run fruit stand and ice cream parlor. Shroyer’s athletic talent shone through during his high school years, earning him a football scholarship to Florida State University. He later appeared in the classic film The Longest Yard (1974), featuring alongside fellow FSU alumnus Burt Reynolds. Unfortunately, a football injury curtailed his sports ambitions, leading him to complete his education at the University of Georgia, where he obtained a degree in business.
