Biography

Heather Grace Angel (February 9, 1909 – December 13, 1986) was a distinguished English actress, known for her versatility on stage and screen. Born to parents Andrea and Mary Letticia, she was the younger of two sisters. Angel commenced her theatrical journey at the Old Vic in 1926 and later joined various touring companies, showcasing her talent across the UK. Her Broadway debut occurred in December 1937 with the play *Love of Women* at the Golden Theatre, followed by an appearance in *The Wookey* from 1941 to 1942.

Angel made a significant mark in British cinema, beginning with her role in *City of Song*. She gained prominence with performances in *Night in Montmartre* and *The Hound of the Baskervilles*. In December 1932, she relocated to Hollywood, traveling on the Majestic with her mother. Over the next few years, she starred in notable films such as *The Mystery of Edwin Drood*, *The Three Musketeers*, and *The Informer*.

In 1937, she became a recurring character as Phyllis Clavering in the beloved *Bulldog Drummond* series and played Kitty Bennett in *Pride and Prejudice*. Angel's filmography also included the first adaptation of Raymond Chandler's *The High Window* (1942) and a role in Alfred Hitchcock's *Lifeboat*. Later in her career, she lent her voice to Disney classics like *Alice in Wonderland* and *Peter Pan*. She also appeared in the soap opera *Peyton Place* and the sitcom *Family Affair*.

For her contributions to cinema, Angel was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6301 Hollywood Boulevard. She passed away from cancer in Santa Barbara, California, and was laid to rest at Santa Barbara Cemetery.
