Biography
Roberta Maxwell, born in 1942, is a distinguished Canadian actress whose career spans several decades and multiple theatrical realms. Starting her journey in acting at just 12 years old, she quickly gained recognition as the youngest apprentice at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, where she showcased her talent in classic roles such as Ursula in *Much Ado About Nothing*, Lady Anne in *Richard III*, Olivia in *Twelfth Night*, and Anne in *The Merry Wives of Windsor*.
Maxwell's career took her to England for three years in repertory theatre, culminating in her West End debut alongside notable actors Robert Morley and Molly Picon in *A Majority of One*. She made her Broadway debut in 1968 with *The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie* and subsequently collaborated with the Tyrone Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis on five productions. Notably, in 1974, she returned to Broadway to star as Jill in *Equus*, sharing the stage with Anthony Hopkins.
In 1982, Maxwell captivated audiences as Rosalind in the Stratford Festival's production of *As You Like It*, which was later recorded and broadcast on Canadian television. Her impressive body of work also includes appearances in television and film, with notable roles in series like *Warehouse 13* in 2009 and 2010. Through her versatility and dedication, Roberta Maxwell has solidified her place as a prominent figure in the performing arts.
