Kimiko Yo, born on May 12, 1956, in Yokohama, Japan, to a Japanese mother and a Taiwanese father, has carved a remarkable niche in the Japanese entertainment industry. Her early connection to the world of acting was influenced by her cousin, actress Bunjaku Han. Yo's career took off in front of the camera in 1987, following her initial foray into theater in 1976.

Over the years, she has amassed an impressive portfolio, boasting nearly 200 credits across television and film. Audiences may recognize her for her notable performances in the acclaimed film "Shin Gojira," as well as her heartfelt portrayal in "Departures," which won an Academy Award in 2009. Additionally, she showcased her talent in the quirky "Ramen Girl" and left an impression as an eccentric neighbor in "The Drugstore Girl." Her serene performance in "Café Lumière," directed by a Taiwanese filmmaker, further highlights her versatile acting skills.
