Biography
Melissa Viviane Jefferson, widely recognized as Lizzo, was born on April 27, 1988, in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up in Houston, Texas, where her passion for performance began to flourish. Eventually, Lizzo relocated to Minneapolis, a pivotal move that marked the start of her career in hip hop. Before joining Nice Life Recording Company and Atlantic Records, she independently released two studio albums: Lizzobangers in 2013 and Big Grrrl Small World in 2015.
In 2016, she debuted her first major-label EP, Coconut Oil, solidifying her presence in the music industry. With a unique blend of singing, rapping, and songwriting, Lizzo quickly gained acclaim for her empowering messages and vibrant stage presence. Her career has since skyrocketed, earning her multiple Grammy Awards and a devoted fan base. Known for her celebration of body positivity and self-love, Lizzo continues to inspire audiences worldwide with her infectious energy and powerful anthems.
