Biography
Noémie Lvovsky, born on December 14, 1964, in Paris, is a distinguished French film director, screenwriter, and actress. She hails from a Jewish family that emigrated from Ukraine to escape pogroms. Lvovsky pursued her passion for cinema at La Fémis in Paris, where she was contemporaneous with notable filmmaker Arnaud Desplechin, with whom she frequently collaborates.
Her early works prominently featured actress Emmanuelle Devos, who was just starting her career at the time. Lvovsky has earned a remarkable six nominations for the César Award for Best Supporting Actress, making her the most nominated in this category. Her nominations came from her performances in films such as My Wife Is an Actress (2002), Backstage (2006), Actrices (2008), The French Kissers (2010), House of Pleasures (2012), and Summertime (2016). Additionally, her film Sentiments received a nomination for Best Film at the César Awards in 2004.
One of her notable achievements includes her film Camille redouble, which was showcased in the Directors' Fortnight at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, where it garnered the Prix SACD. In recognition of her contributions to cinema, Lvovsky served as a jury member for the Cinéfondation and short film sections at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.
