Stefan Schnabel, born on February 2, 1912, in Berlin, Germany, and passing away on March 11, 1999, in Rogaro, Italy, was a distinguished actor primarily known for his long-standing role as Dr. Stephen Jackson on the CBS soap opera *The Guiding Light*. His performance spanned an impressive sixteen years, from 1965 until 1981, making him a familiar face in daytime television.
Beyond his television acclaim, Schnabel had a rich theatrical background, notably portraying Metellus Cimber in Orson Welles's innovative adaptation of Shakespeare's *Julius Caesar* in 1937, which was set against the backdrop of Fascist Italy. Welles himself took on the role of Brutus in this production, showcasing Schnabel's capacity to shine in a stellar ensemble.
Schnabel's film career was equally prolific, with appearances in over sixty films. His notable credits include *The Iron Curtain* (1948) and a memorable performance as the Soviet First Secretary in Clint Eastwood's 1982 thriller *Firefox*. His final film role came in 1990 with the romantic comedy *Green Card*.
