Evelyn Louise Keyes (November 20, 1916 - July 4, 2008) was a prominent American actress known for her captivating performances in classic films. By the age of 18, she had already begun her career as a chorus girl before making her way to Hollywood, where legendary director Cecil B. DeMille signed her to a personal contract without requiring an audition. Keyes gained significant recognition for her portrayal of Suellen O'Hara, Scarlett O'Hara's sister, in the iconic 1939 film *Gone with the Wind*, a role that solidified her place in cinematic history. She later participated in the 1988 documentary *The Making of a Legend: Gone with the Wind*, reflecting on her experiences during the film's production.

Keyes' career blossomed when she joined Columbia Pictures, where she starred in various films throughout the early 1940s. Notable among her works was the 1941 fantasy comedy *Here Comes Mr. Jordan*, followed by her performance opposite Larry Parks in the acclaimed biopic *The Jolson Story*. She also showcased her comedic talents in *The Mating of Millie* alongside Glenn Ford and captivated audiences as Kathy Flannigan in the 1949 film *Mrs. Mike*. Her final significant role came in the 1955 classic *The Seven Year Itch*, featuring Marilyn Monroe. Although she officially retired in 1956, Keyes continued to engage in acting, leaving a lasting legacy in the film industry.
