Kellita Smith
Biography
Kellita Smith, born on January 15, 1969, is a multifaceted American comedian, model, and actress, best recognized for her memorable portrayal of Wanda McCullough, Bernie Mac's spouse, in the popular FOX sitcom The Bernie Mac Show, which aired from 2001 to 2006.
Originally hailing from Chicago, Illinois, Kellita was raised in Oakland, California. She pursued higher education at Santa Rosa Junior College, where she earned an associate degree in political science.
Kellita's career began in the modeling industry, and she soon transitioned to acting, making her stage debut in a regional production of Tell It Like It Tiz. Her theatrical accomplishments include notable performances in Los Angeles, where she starred in No Place to be Somebody and Feelings, the latter earning her an NAACP Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1996. She also received a nomination for Best Actress for her work in The Thirteenth Thorn and appeared in One Woman Two Lives in 2009.
On the small screen, Kellita Smith made her acting debut in an episode of In Living Color and went on to guest star in various series, including Living Single, Moesha, and NYPD Blue. She held recurring roles in Martin, Sister, Sister, and Malcolm & Eddie. Her standout role in The Bernie Mac Show garnered her four NAACP Image Award nominations.
Kellita continued to shine on television with her portrayal of First Lady Katherine Johnson in The First Family (2012) and as Roberta Warren in the Syfy series Z Nation (2014), where she also appeared in Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! in 2015.
